Europe’s health deserves the EU’s attention: Investing in chronic disease prevention and management

Initiated by several MEPs and the European Chronic Disease Alliance, the manifesto calls on the European Commission to recognise health as an objective in its own right in its 2019-2024 strategy, with specific targets on chronic diseases; and to allocate the necessary human and financial resources and scale up related investment to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The manifesto outlines four priority actions to deliver on the SDGs in the EU and to ensure robust, effective and innovative EU leadership in health.

It is currently supported by: Dr. Cristian-Silviu Bușoi MEP • José Inácio Faria MEP • Karin Kadenbach MEP • Kateřina Konečná MEP • Miroslav Mikolášik MEP • Aldo Patriciello MEP • Alojz Peterle MEP • Sirpa Pietikäinen MEP • Daciana Sârbu MEP • Christel Schaldemose MEP • MEPs Against Cancer (MAC) Group • MEP Group for Kidney Health • European Chronic Disease Alliance (ECDA) • British Medical Association (BMA) • European Alcohol Policy Alliance (Eurocare) • European Association Working for Carers (Eurocarers) • European Patients Forum (EPF) • Finnish NCD Alliance • Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) • Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) • Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) • International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR) • European Healthy Lifestyle Alliance (EHLA)
